An amazing Bali holiday: visiting the Reptile Parks

Time for some cute exotic reptiles? Okay, maybe not that cute, but definitely a must see. There are two types of people when it comes to reptiles;
  • The ones that adore all kinds of reptiles from snakes to crocodiles- they already have good reason to visit a reptile park
  • The ones that just can’t stand hearing about them, let alone seeing them – maybe it’s time to give reptiles a chance
The Reptile Parks of Bali can really offer you and your kids a thrilling experience, and why not a remedy for healing some of your fears or prejudices regarding reptiles. There are three such major reptile parks you can choose from: the Rimba Reptile Park, the Jaya Reptile and Crocodile Park, and the Perancak Park.
Bali Tropical Plant 11 resized 600Rimba Park – the home of the Komodo Dragon
Komodo, the cute and creepy dragon. So, if the kids want to see “real life dragons”, then you should definitely have Rimba Park on your itinerary. The Reptilarium section of the park (from iguanas to pythons- all inclusive) is where you can watch reptiles in their natural habitats, and not in between enclosures. Not for the weak hearted, that’s for sure.
The park also features a mystic underground pathway, a cave style entrance where different types of serpents can be found: vipers, snakes and cobras, just take your pick! Don’t worry, the place is totally safe.
The setting of the reptile park in itself is fascinating.  You will feel like you are really in the rainforest, with waterfalls, ponds, lakes and ruins.
The Jaya Park
The Park is waiting for you in a tropical garden setting, with more than 500 crocodiles. Even imagining that army of crocodiles may be too much to handle. The Jaya Park is located in Mengwi (~ halfway between Denpasar and Singaraja), and the entrance fee also covers a special guide. Several shows or traditional theatrical performances are held throughout the day, which prove for great entertainment. Great fun for the whole family.
Perancak Park – Reptile Park & Zoo
At Parancak Park not only do they have a great variety of reptiles such as the famous crocodiles, but also tigers and different species of birds. If you want a little bit of diversity, then you should definitely visit Perancak, especially because it is the home of the Bird of Paradise. Also in Perancak there are also the famous white buffalo races, a great attraction for visitors. It is a tiny village with many tourist attractions incorporated in one place: the reptile ark, the ancient temple of the Pura Ancak, the races, and many others.
Entrance fees at all the reptile parks are not at all expensive, and you should dedicate a whole day to visit these thrilling places.
